T-Wags The Most Trusted Name in Havanese
I am Tim Meyer, owner-handler-breeder, and I welcome you to the T-Wags site. You can see pictures of me and the T-Wags environment here in the photo pages. My approach to raising Havanese is unique. First, I raise only Havanese and am focused on the critical and key elements that represent the best Havanese traits and I am very focused on quality temperament. That is the unique and wonderful temperament that has made this breed so popular. Second, my breeding stock is carefully selected from Havanese championship lines. I am very fortunate to be in close proximity and work closely with Los Perritos Havanese. Los Perritos is home of Ch Los Perritos Laredo. This Havanese dog has been judged best of the Havanese Breed at both the AKC/Eukanuba National Championships and the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Many of my dogs are directly from the Laredo line. Third, my dogs are raised and live in a home environment and are free to frolic and play on a fenced acre of land. My belief is that such an open environment helps the dogs and puppies naturally develop their loving, playful and charming individual personalities which have brought the Havanese breed into the forefront. Fourth, I spend considerable time with my Havanese and their puppies each day to nurture a warm social climate. These points illustrate my dedication as a Havanese breeder focused on advancing the breed with quality Havanese.
I maintain careful records on the following critical health factors on all my breeding stock. I exceed the required and recommended testing for Havanese as set forth by the Havanese Club of America. All my dogs are checked annually by veterinarians to meet the Canine Eye Registration Foundation (CERF) eye health standards. Most importantly for you all my breeding stock is checked by veterinarians of the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals which checks and certifies my breeding stock for:
- Hip and joint conformation
- Patellar luxation
- No Legg-Calve-Perth’s disease
- Passes BAER tests for hearing
In addition all T-Wags breeding stock and puppies are Veterinarian checked on a strict routine basis and all vaccinations kept up-dated. I use a combination of a local veterinarian (who has expertise in the Havanese breed) as well as the expertise of the University of Florida Veterinarian Clinic. I follow the recommendations of these professionals in both testing and care. My Havanese and their puppies are fed Breeder’s Choice AvoDerm Premium Natural dog food which contains all natural ingredients and no animal by-products. Complete health and parent CERF records are provided with T-Wags puppies. My advice (and that of the Havanese Club of America) is that you never buy a Havanese puppy before you receive this information.
